STEVENSON, Stewart A. “Stewie”, of Braintree, after a long illness, January 15, 2010, at the age of 87. Husband of the late Wanda B. (Wysocki) Stevenson. Loving father of Jay Stevenson of Marshfield, Dana Stevenson of Braintree and Gayle Stevenson-Seibert of Franklin. Devoted brother of William J. Stevenson, Jr. and Barbara Opie both of Braintree and the late William “Ducky” Stevenson, Hazel David, Mary McCoy and Helen Stevenson. Dear grandfather of Rebecca, Jesse and Alexandra Stevenson and Andrew and Asia Seibert. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Reposing at the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Tuesday 4:00 – 7:00 PM with a service at 6:00 PM in the Funeral Home. Burial will be private. Should friends desire memorial contributions may be made in Stewart’s name to the Hospice of the South Shore, 100 Bay State Dr., Braintree, MA 02184. Stewart was born in Braintree and graduated from Braintree High School. He went on to join the U.S. Navy and served his country during WWII. Stewart was Sheet Metal worker and a member of Union Local #17 for over 40 years. In his spare time, Stewart was active in the Town of Braintree, where he was a Town Meeting member, member and past commander of the Braintree American Legion Post #86. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Braintree Golf Course for many years.
