Obituaries
HOITT, Lincoln R. 88, of Hingham, formerly of Randolph, died peacefully on June 3rd, 2010 at Norwood Hospital, Norwood. Lincoln was a long term employee of United Fruit Company where he had worked for over 40 years and retired about 25 years ago. He was proud of his trips to the tropics for Chiquita Banana and of his service to his country as a US Navy Veteran during World War II. Beloved husband of the late Arlene (Roberts) Hoitt. Lincoln will be sadly missed by his children – Gary Hoitt and his wife Teresa of Wareham, Terri Hoitt and her partner Alberta DePesa of Hingham, and James Hoitt and his husband Phil Patterson of Abington. Lincoln was loved deeply by his grandchildren, Ashley Hoitt of Wareham and Robert Hoitt DePesa of Hingham. Lincoln is survived by his siblings Milton Hoitt of Marshfield, Mona Slaney of Needham, Lenore Smith of Florida, and Jean Abruzzese of Wareham. Lincoln was predeceased by his siblings Alfred Knox, Florence Osborne, Marian Grovo, Esther Hoitt, and John Hoitt. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. At the family’s request visiting hours have been omitted and burial will be private. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Lincoln’s children are grateful for the loving care provided to him in his final years by the staff at the New England Friends Home in Hingham. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the New England Friends Home, 86 Turkey Hill Lane, Hingham, MA 02043.
