BENTLEY, Leo J. of Rockland, formerly of Randolph, passed away July 11, 2010 at age 83. Beloved husband of the late Ruth F. (Call) Bentley. Loving father of Ellen M. Scannell of Boston, Stephen L. Bentley of Plympton and Mark P. Bentley of Whitman. Son of the late John D. Bentley, Jr. and Ellen “Nelle” (McKenna) Bentley. Devoted brother of Irene C. Grines of Gloucester, Richard N. Bentley of NY, NY, the late Mary June Ballem, the late Arthur D. Bentley, John F. Bentley, Paul P. Bentley. Dear grandfather of Maureen, Meaghan and Patrick Scannell, Stephen and Michael Bentley and James and Jaclyn Bentley. Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main Street,( Rte 28), Randolph until 8:15AM on Friday followed by Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM in St. Bernadette Church, Randolph. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00PM. Burial in Milton Cemetery, Milton. Leo was born in Boston, grew up in Roxbury and graduated from Boston Trade School. He attended Wentworth Institute and Northeastern University for Mechanical Design. He worked in Mechanical Design for many years at General Dynamics and also for Stone Webster. He was WWII US Navy Veteran, Seaman First Class aboard the USS Black. During WWII he served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre w/2 Stars , American Arena, as well as the Philippine Liberation and was a recipient of the WII Victory Medal. Member of the Vera Cruz Knights of Columbus and St. Bernadette Bowling League and coached baseball for North Randolph Little League.
